[Makoto, you've managed to not McLose it! She believes he'll be able to make a delicious cake one day, if he didn't lose so much confidence over this mistake. Well, it was really a disaster, but those also count as mistakes one can learn from.
At least it didn't kill her!
He's so diligently cleaning after having thrown out his attempts, so she knows he's still keeping it together. He's not completely lost to the depths of despair so she hopes they can bake a successful cake soon! One that won't be a poison so no one will die. But with how his guilt is sinking in, it might not happen soon.
Vietnam steps up to him.] I think you still did well. You tried so hard. Everyone has to start somewhere. Don't think it all went to waste, okay? [She starts to rub is back, trying to soothe him, but suddenly stops and looks at her hands in horror.]
I haven't cleaned myself up yet, I just ruined your shirt!
[ Getting deranged and hysterical in Vietnam's kitchen wouldn't be conducive to anyone's good time, alright. She might have to call the cops on him, explain to all of his relatives and close friends why he had a mental breakdown over an amorphous clump of faintly foul-smelling cake batter and at least two whole batches of wasted pastry materials.
He hasn't even accounted for the thick veneer of baking powder and flour coating their clothes and smeared all over their arms, like they've started to metabolize into cooking ingredients themselves, one misstep away from turning into the nightmare of professional pastry chefs everywhere: amateurs. Horrifying.
Furthermore, this is exclusively Makoto's fault, and while he's grateful she doesn't pull her punches, it doesn't solve the present issue of the disaster site that the kitchen has become. Startling at the hand pressed reassuringly along his back, he nearly adds a bottle of vanilla extract to the mess, swiping up the bottle mid-fall and saving them from the tinkling crash of broken glass. ]
Don't mind me! I wasn't the one who ended up doused in flour.
[ You know, after he (nearly) freaked out and sent powder up in wispy clouds. Call him out for this terrible treatment, Vietnam. She deserves so much better.
With an off-kilter impulsiveness to his movements, he takes a wash towel and swabs what he can of her left arm, moving the next limb just as fast. ]
[She would never call the cops on him? Heck she would hide him for all of eternity until people would lay off him for bad killer baking too. Makoto is too important to her.
He's so on edge that more things could've been broken. Thinking about it, she really needs to get him to stop doing things.
Although she does appreciate the gesture of him cleaning her arms, so she'll let him do that for now. If she keeps telling him to stop, he'll feel worse for what has already happened.
It was only when her other arm was clean now that she grabs both his hands, even with the towel still held, to stop him.]
Thank you, Makoto. You are too kind. But let's go do something else for now. To just, get a real break.
One of these days, Vietnam is bound to be exploited for the very same reason she indulges hopeless cases like Makoto as his expertise pertains to edible cooking, but he's more than glad to take her offer up with a small, abashed quirk of his mouth. ]
Alright. Is there anything you were in the mood for, Vietnam-san? We should do what you want to this time.
[ While he poses that fairly innocuous question on her, he scrubs away at the counter to the best of his ability, clearing out the rest of the flour and packages of ripped confectionary materials as casualties of their war on baking. If nothing else, they'd evaded a case of food poisoning. With any luck, they'll be able to end the day without either of them sent to the hospital for grievous injury. ]
But it's true, she'll get exploited for Makoto. Sure she's selective about who she is nice to, but once she is, it's so easy to do so. Makoto has her wrapped around his little finger. Just seeing him smile is already Enough.]
Hmm... [She could do all of this. Later. After he feels better. He's kind enough to make it her choice, but she knows it's because he still wants to repay her for her efforts.
But the point here is she's trying to cheer him up!]
Cat cafe. [That was easy.] Let's go to the cat cafe. I'll take us on my motorbike.
gives u all my ice cubes then??? every single ice cube now belongs 2 u :9
[ THEY CAN MUTUALLY EXPLOIT EACH OTHER, THEN ... THAT'S FINE, THAT'S COOL ... but since Makoto's susceptibility for Vietnam's kindness knows no bounds, he readily brightens up at the prospect. Stashing away the rest of the cooking supplies in the commotion of cleaning up, he nods in assent. ]
The one in town, right? I hear it just opened up, but I haven't had a chance to see it for myself yet.
[ A few seconds later, the rest of Vietnam's words breach his awareness. ]
Wait, your motorbike?
[ She's even a motorcyclist. At this rate, wonders will never cease. ]
[THAT'S FINE, that's probably what makes them happy? She dies at his kindness, he dies at hers...they only need to carry each other so that they do not end up collapsing somewhere because of the other.]
Yes. [She can quickly book a session! Which she will do on her phone now--there done. Thanks credit card.
That means that while she was so eagerly filling out the form so that they can go to the cat cafe (and lucky, since it's an odd hour, it's available!) she didn't notice that Makoto seems to be surprised by the fact that she can drive a motorcycle.]
Yes, my motorbike. A-ah, is it a problem? [She doesn't want to accidentally put him into danger.]
[ As long as one of their friends takes them to the ER, it'll be fine. Succumbing to kindness isn't that horrific of a demise to begin with?!
And wow, he was just about to offer up his own credit card, but seeing how quickly she's taken care of the cat café reservation, he's forced to relegate himself to the status of beleaguered mooch. When prompted, Makoto waves his hands, his expression just that side of flustered. ]
No, it isn't! I just thought it sounded really cool.
[ SO, SO COOL ........ he has no experience when it comes to riding shotgun on a motorcycle, but they'll cross that bridge when they get there (probably). ]
[That's true, they could always recover together! THAT COULD HELP, RIGHT?
Exactly, this wasn't about how he could pay her back today. This is a reward for him because he tried so hard to bake something decent, and failed. But the fact is that he still gave it his all. It's that kind of effort which deserves the world.
But really, she's afraid he might think it too dangerous! A motorcycle!]
O-oh! I see, I will give you a helmet! And drive very safe. [She says it like this will help. Well, it possibly could, anyway. When they get there.]
But yes, let's! [She leads him to the motorcycle, parked just nearby, and takes one helmet for him. She's actually a Bad Girl and doesn't like riding with a helmet, but she did make the effort coming here. Don't worry, she has two.]
Here you are. [She offers him the helmet, and will help him secure it.]
[ Please, Vietnam, you have better ways to spend your time than doing charity work for this incorrigible mess of a guy who can't get his priority sorted out long enough to make a proper cake. Acting upon experience alone, that can be only indicative of the worst things. His hands can't even make something sweet enough for human consumption ... huh ...
Still, he doesn't doubt her finesse on the road, swerving through traffic the ways pros on the set of Tokyo Drift veer through traffic at top-notch speeds. Committing to the endeavor, he follows her on the expectation that they'll both exercise some caution before going fast and furious through the streets. Locking the helmet around his head, he obligingly allows her to secure the straps and carefully fit on the helmet without incurring head trauma. Tipping the visor up, he takes a gander at her motorcycle, which is just as intimidating as it looks. Tipping the window of the visor up, he's notably more sedate than he was when he was wreaking havoc in the kitchen. ]
Is there anything important I should remember while I'm riding with you?
[ You know, like distributing his equilibrium so he doesn't bring her crashing with him on a sharp turn, or send them whirling into a tailspin when he grapples around her waist too tightly. ]
[Look, she believes in him enough to know that one day he will be able to bake a decent cake! However, it could turn out to be pretty ugly, but at least you can eat it, right?
And she really would, normally drive in such a way, but knowing how Makoto could be a little bit nervous (or very nervous, judging fro his behaviour right now), she'd want to go as smoothly as possible. Let his first ride be actually leisurely and free! And then she can ease him into driving like a crazy person after.
She moves to secure her helmet on as well, before sliding onto the bike, seating herself comfortably.]
Yes. Just relax and hold onto me as I drive. I will do the rest. But remember to relax. [So that his body could move with her as she steers the bike!] Come, you can get on now.
[ No one should be inflicted with his culinary disasters, but rest assured, he'll gladly compensate her for her grievances. Maybe they can arrange a swimming excursion with Rin and Haruka as well ... a harem of swimming boys for Vietnam (whoa) ...
But for now, Makoto's content taking Vietnam at face-value, double-checking the helmet to make sure it's firmly secured in place, and then he nods once in acquiescence. ]
Alright!
[ Hopefully, their height disparity doesn't pull the attention of too many wayward eyes. When Makoto slips onto the vehicle, the predicament comes in a way that he couldn't even expect. It's such a troubling predicament that he has to do a double take before it finally hits him.
There's no seatbelt. ]
... Is it okay to hold you around the waist?
[ It's normal for a motorcycle passenger to lock their grip around something or risk falling off the bike entirely, but he can't be so forward when it comes to an upstanding lady like Vietnam until he has her permission. ]
[That sounds best, since she would love to meet more of his friends! Not that she knew that this was Makoto's attempt to recruit his friends into joining her harem...one she didn't even know she has...Makoto what have you done.
Will they even know she's driving the motorcycle if he's the one sitting behind? It could look like she's disappeared entirely into his arms because she's so tiny, while he's really big. They'll find out soon enough.
She looks over her shoulder, tilting her head up so she can look at him.]
It is fine. [She didn't even know why he had to ask. Although, the truth is, were it anyone else, she would want them to ask, or for her to direct them to hold her waist. In this case, because she trusts Makoto so much, she didn't even care. She merely just straightens her arms in front of her, hovering above the handlebars, so that he can just wrap his arms around her waist. As comfortably as he can considering how tall he is.]
why do i keep doing this 2 u ... LEAVE ME AND SAVE YOURSELF [makes sad airhorn noises]
[ It's an incognito harem?! Low-key, unobtrusive, only shows up at the worst moments — just like Makoto when he's soliciting Vietnam for another open-favor, only to ruin her kitchen in the process. If Vietnam did what was best for herself, she wouldn't even be here to begin with, so impromptu motorcycle ride it is. Settling right behind her, he ... attempts to wrap his weird, large arms around her waist and immediately feels the awkwardness ....... why is he so Tall, he didn't ask for this life?!?!?! ]
L-Like this?
[ Dang, he's sweating bullets. Trying to deal with the fact he's twice her size, Makoto nervously stares into the great beyond. The cat café is worth the pains, but at this rate, he's bound to send the motorcycle skidding or something. Someone rescue Vietnam from this train wreck of a disaster already. ]
NO I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU. EMBRACES UNTIL THE END OF TIME!!!!
[Makoto, your power is too strong, perhaps the harem is more yours than it is hers...because she can never say no to him? She's glad to go on any adventure with him, including near death experiences with baked goods, a half messed up kitchen, and now an attempt to go out with him by going to the cat cafe. All of this, probably worth it. Right?
Even when his arms wrap around her. In fact, it is now confirmed that Vietnam has disappeared into his arms entirely, never to be seen again. It's not so much just his arms, but also his entire body. If you look at them from behind, you probably wouldn't see her at all past his huge back. Makoto, do you lift?
She doesn't mind, though, because his safety comes first!]
Yes. Just like this.
[She would smile but their faces are obscured by their helmets. So instead she revs up the engine, showing him that he should just trust her abilities!]
Are you ready?
[Even if he's not, she's going to start driving anyway, so he better hold on tightly!]
[ He has to lift?! His swimmer's physique demands nothing less than blood (what), sweat, and tears that come from exercising at the gym and getting #swole. Out of all of his teammates, he's also the most ... filled-out ... but that doesn't mean Makoto is any less of a softy, given the stream of nonsensical blubbering that tends to sputter out at being graced with Vietnam's presence in such close proximity. Please ... he can't handle this kind of emotional turmoil, but he's not about to turn down an offer made in earnest, either.
As such, Makoto can only attempt to cope with the fact that Vietnam is so small that she's in latent risk of disappearing when compared against his rather bulked-out body on the motorcycle. Already self-conscious of his proportions when contrasted against Vietnam's petite frame, he anxiously nods, ready to get this show out on the road. ]
Just go anytime!
[ And without further ado, he grips her around her waist, ready to #die from mortification. ]
[His lifting is so impressive, they end up dedicating so many lines to his body!!! One day she'll go support him and be impressed by how hard he works (including blood, wow). Sometimes the gentle giants are the best ones. Especially now how he's so big he completely covers her up. What a big soft bear.
And so Makoto drives out onto the road, speeding ahead into the distance towards the cat cafe. Or at least that is what most people who are driving around them are thinking, not quite yet noticing that the girl in Makoto's arms is the one steering. And sure sure hopes that he's holding on tightly, because she's slowly beginning to speed up.
It's all part of the fun of freedom! Not that Vietnam will go any faster than Makoto's true limits, because that would just scare him.]
[ Maybe an obscenely swole teddy ... that sounds disturbing, but it's fine, the analogy gets the point across. Everyone knows the real star is Vietnam, so it's just in this instance that bystanders, vehicle-riders, and motorcyclists alike assume he's the one driving the hotrod until they notice that his hands are disproportionately small when compared to his body ... RIP ...
While they coast out on the road, Makoto's fear threatens to get the worst of him as the speed climbs and climbs, but maybe there's a certain threshold for terror, since Makoto eventually becomes numb to the fact they could have a head-on collision at any moment. Even if he tends to get freaked out by even the passing mention of a haunted swim center, he can at least enjoy this moment — and with one huge gulp, he whoops.
Hopefully, that doesn't disturb Vietnam's hand-eye coordination en route to the cat café, since he was pretty loud. ]
[Hey, everyone loves giant teddies though! So a swole teddy is only the best, really. But look, they will never know. Even if the hands are too small. They'll just think he's too cool, like how he looks. So strong, and possibly thug like aside from his kind eyes.
Actually, hearing and noticing Makoto's fear does worry her, but she also noticed that he's very endearing? She feels bad for thinking this, really, especially while she should be concentrating so that he would have a smooth ride, but he's just...really cute. Don't worry Makoto, just hold on tightly because she'll make sure you'll live! Watch out for this dip though, sorry.
The cat cafe is soon in sight, so he need not worry anymore, but as she begins to slow down...]
[ They're just way overdue for a bike gang showing up to assert their control of the district. Makoto wouldn't bolt on the spot in case of an imminent knife-fight, but Vietnam might as well be alone with how he'll be cowering behind her ... really, some people ...
Anyways, save for the dip at the intersection — which he manages to yelp his way through — they end up at the cat café with all their limbs intact. And just for a moment, Makoto almost believes he's gotten off without Vietnam noticing his whooping, but wishful thinking fails him this time. ]
H-Hahah, yeah, I guess so!
[ SMOOTH.
In an effort to curb any further embarrassment, he abruptly disentangles, nearly tripping off the bike in the process ... but hey, he save himself from face-planting on the concrete in record time. After that, it's just a matter of extending his hand to Vietnam, giving off cool, swaggy vibes while still perched on the motorcycle. ]
[Look, she'll protect him for sure! Of course, they'll run at the sight of him first, she's sure! But he can still stand behind her. Because she'll shield him.
But don't worry, she'll keep all his secrets. In fact, that part of him is what she holds most dear. How his emotions are all out in the world for others to see. It warms her heart, really.
Even when he's a little bit clumsy. She'll keep that a secret too, as she takes his hand to gracefully get off of the bike. This at least makes him look like the perfect gentleman, no?]
I am fine. Perhaps I went a little bit too wildly to try to impress you.
[Actually she went slower, but details.]
amy, don't torture urself anymore w/ this thread [deadcat]
[ Friends enabling friends, friends protecting friends ... what's better than buds being buds, really. His heart is equally warmed by this show of kindness, even if he's a little slower on the dismount. ]
Oh, but don't worry! I didn't have any trouble. Thank you for the ride.
[ Were they traveling like 40mph or something the entire time ... incredible ... ]
Is the cat café in this direction?
[ And he's pointed in the direction least likely to boast a café dedicated to rubbing cat's heads, but at least he's trying to be moderately helpful after that whole poison cake debacle. ]
[That's cute though...and seriously, shhh, don't worry about the slow speeds?
And look at that! Now is time for Makoto to take charge. His excitement for cats is endearing, but the way he starts to handle things shows her that this is why he's the Captain of his swim team. It's not just his gentle heart. Makoto can be helpfully assertive when he needs to be!
She nods and follows after him. No cake will poison them, and all cats will love them. Maybe there are kittens to play with.]
Yes! I am rather excited now that we are drawing closer.
[Perhaps the excitement got to her mind because she's still holding his hand as they continue to walk onwards.]
[ cries a river on you??? you're too nice to me ................
But alright, he'd never be the leader of his swim team if he didn't have a single backbone in his body, even if he so often loses it in the face of ghosts or equally spoopy paranormal creatures that go bump in the night. Blame it on his younger siblings' soft spot for horror flicks.
On that note, though: kittens. In particular, kittens with soft, wet noses and cute, tiny paws and ears that flick at the slightest sound. He's so lost in the thought that he's holding her hand with just as much fervor all the way up to the cat café, at which point he startles. Not enough to reflexively jerk out of her grip (that's rude yo), but enough to just let it hang there?!? why ]
Oh! Sorry, I didn't notice, ahaha.
[ If nothing else, he's quick on the uptake to open the door for her, where they'll soon be swarmed by a tornado of cats of all shapes and sizes, presumably. This is his first time at an actual cat café, so his expectations are as lofty as the stars in the sky ... have mercy ... ]
And exactly, he's just human, but he's brave when it counts! She'll protect him from all the horror stuff, considering she's also a bit of a horror buff herself.
So it looks like it happened to the both of them, hand holding so tightly, because of the thought of cats. KITTENS. Adorable little balls of fluff with their wonderful purring.
She flushes slightly, but she doesn't let go. Only because they do have to enter. It was only when he holds the door for her, that she does let go only to step in.]
Thank you.
[That was probably the last word she could get in before a chorus of mews were all aimed at their direction. And their big eyes looking up at them, as if urging them to pet their soft fur.]

NOW FOREVER!!!!
That wasn't so bad, no?
[OH SHE KNEW.]

What about you?

But don't worry, she'll keep all his secrets. In fact, that part of him is what she holds most dear. How his emotions are all out in the world for others to see. It warms her heart, really.
Even when he's a little bit clumsy. She'll keep that a secret too, as she takes his hand to gracefully get off of the bike. This at least makes him look like the perfect gentleman, no?]
I am fine. Perhaps I went a little bit too wildly to try to impress you.
[Actually she went slower, but details.]
amy, don't torture urself anymore w/ this thread [deadcat]
Oh, but don't worry! I didn't have any trouble. Thank you for the ride.
[ Were they traveling like 40mph or something the entire time ... incredible ... ]
Is the cat café in this direction?
[ And he's pointed in the direction least likely to boast a café dedicated to rubbing cat's heads, but at least he's trying to be moderately helpful after that whole poison cake debacle. ]
NO I MUST TAG YOU FOREVER
And look at that! Now is time for Makoto to take charge. His excitement for cats is endearing, but the way he starts to handle things shows her that this is why he's the Captain of his swim team. It's not just his gentle heart. Makoto can be helpfully assertive when he needs to be!
She nods and follows after him. No cake will poison them, and all cats will love them. Maybe there are kittens to play with.]
Yes! I am rather excited now that we are drawing closer.
[Perhaps the excitement got to her mind because she's still holding his hand as they continue to walk onwards.]
AAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaa
cries a river on you??? you're too nice to me ................But alright, he'd never be the leader of his swim team if he didn't have a single backbone in his body, even if he so often loses it in the face of ghosts or equally spoopy paranormal creatures that go bump in the night.
HEHEHEHEH
